Icky throat
So less than 2 weeks I got sick again. I thought it was the flu backfiring again, but as I watched closely at the symptoms it was something else. But it was something I had before. It’s an occurring disease that kept coming back. Like a best friend missing you and eager to come and visit..NOT.
Over the years I’ve had an occurring tonsillitis. Look it up on wikipedia, it has an icky picture which is self explanatory. Mine isn’t that bad, but I think you get the idea.
No other way to kill it other than using antibiotic. I don’t know why some people (including my boss’ wife) just cringe upon hearing the word antibiotic. I figure when it’s necessary, just take it. It’s still considered as one of the most important discovery in modern medicine.
While I’d be happy not to have this again anymore I can’t figure out what caused it. The last only thing I could think of was a glass of cold Carlsberg last Saturday night. Can it be true? Drat, just when I thought I’ve taken all precaution.
Something colorful to walk on
Only in Bali you can come to work with sandals. I’m not talking about tukang-tukan bakso who wear sandals when they push carts all around the city, but I’m talking about managerial staff, secretaries, even a CEO who comes to work with crocs.
It is advisable that when you come in wearing sneakers people will snicker at you think you’re a lost city boy.
So you can imagine how awkward I felt when I first stepped into the premises. Sharp looking in my pants (thank goodness!), blazer, complete with high heels. I bet I was a strange sight, and walking carefully as I treaded the wooden bridge. Completely saltum (wearing the wrong costume).
Ever since I got hired I stopped buying shoes and started collecting sandals. Can’t remember how many has passed on after months of service protecting my feet from rough paths, tiny thorns and worm eggs. Always have at least 6 pairs on stock to choose from.
Economy wise I save more (even though the turn over is quite high) if I only buy sandals ranging 50-70k rups. With one exception, a sandal that looks similar to Swallow brand which I used to have when I was a kid. If swallow only cost 20k rups, this one, with shiny shocking colors cost almost 20 bucks. With this price, it’s expected to be blister free and long lasting. With that promise, my feet are quite happy.
Hiatus
So what’s going on while I was away and completely ignoring the blog?
Correction! Never ignoring! I’ve logged in several times, but I ended up writing things that are too trivia, too daily, too boring, and I’ve to admit, a bit raw. And this place was never meant to be a place for that, so I never published them. That would be on good days, on bad days I just stare blankly at my monitor, not knowing where to start to write. Gave up, and shut it down.
The main topic for the past 4 Mondays in 1 simple word, is BLAH!
I used to have what people call in Indonesian lidah silet (read: razor tongue). I just see the very worse on people and then throw it to their face. No sensor system, no editing. Gosh, if I can remember the many people that’s been hurt over they years.. So I worked hard to eliminate that.
Now that I think I’ve changed, I work hard not to focus on people’s bad side, but the consequently I failed to see what they’re actually doing to me, what damage they’re making in my life. So the past month I’ve been observing the people who are constantly around me.. obsessive abuser, backstabber, hypocrites, opportunist, chronic complainer, and grumpy people with never ending demands.
But it was that one incident that I had to look closer at how hurt I’ve been. One single incident, when (who was supposed to be) a friend stabbed me dead straight. Not long after that, I got sick. The worse flu I’ve ever had. 2 full weeks (still managed to work, but barely survived it if not by God’s grace). This illness slowed me down and allowed me to question things. I'm no indicating that the incident caused me to get sick, but hey, I'm not eliminating the possibility either.
The only thing I will never understand is, how can the people who were involved didn’t realize what this person did and let it went by just like that? Maybe that’s what happened when they think they’re in the right..
OK, if they’re in the right, maybe I should be on the left. Leave all this behind, move on to the next phase? Hmmm...
